Secretive Effort by GOP Insiders Seeks January Vote to Open 2026 West Virginia Republican Primary

West Virginia Republicans are being targeted by a silent, manipulative force working behind closed doors to subvert our party. A small group is trying to undo a clear decision by the party’s state committee and reopen our primaries at the upcoming January 2026 meeting, catching voters off guard and threatening the integrity of our elections.

Closed primaries ensures that Republican voters, not opportunists from other parties, decide who represents our values on the ballot. Too often, moderate Democrats have switched registration to game our system, running as Republicans while advancing agendas that undermine our principles. That stops now.

We’ve seen the consequences when the wrong candidates slip through.
