West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey introduced the “The Riley Gaines Act” in his recent State of the State address. The legislation, modeled off Independent Women’s Stand with Women legislation, will fortify the definitions of “male” and “female” terms in law, protect the existence of women’s single-sex spaces, such as locker rooms, rape crisis centers, dormitories, and prisons, and protect the integrity of sex-based data collection. Beth Parlato from Independent Women’s Voice gives details. Also, WV Delegate Jim Butler (R-Mason) gives an update on bills he’s working on this legislative session.
