Trump Says GOP Has the Real Enthusiasm as Kamala Harris Picks Tim Walz

Former President Donald Trump had a lot to say during his first news conference since Vice President Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Speaking from his Mar-a-Lago home, Trump made it clear that the Republican Party has the real excitement from voters, not the Democrats.

When asked if he was worried about the crowds Harris has been drawing at her rallies, Trump didn’t hold back. “Oh, give me a break,” he said. “I had 107,000 people in New Jersey, and no one reported it. Harris had, what, 2,000 people? If I ever had 2,000 people, you’d all say my campaign was done.”

Trump continued, bragging about the huge crowds he’s been getting. “In Michigan, I had 25,000 people, and another 25,000 couldn’t even get in. In Pennsylvania, I had 20,000 to 25,000 people and another 20,000 outside. But when she gets 1,500 people, the media acts like it’s the biggest thing ever. It’s ridiculous.”

Trump also mentioned that he’s agreed to three debates, but he’s not so sure if Harris will actually show up. “She hasn’t done an interview because she can’t. She’s barely competent,” Trump said. “But I’m looking forward to the debates because we need to set the record straight.”

When asked why Harris seems to be more popular in the polls since replacing President Joe Biden, Trump wasn’t worried. “The honeymoon period will end. It’s about policy, not about her. She’s incompetent. She ruined California and San Francisco. Everything she touches turns bad.”

Trump also took a swipe at Harris’s policies, saying, “She wants open borders, to defund the police, and take away your guns. That’s not going to sit well with people.”

On the topic of a Florida ballot initiative that would make abortion a constitutional right before fetal viability, Trump hinted that it might go in a liberal direction but didn’t seem too concerned. “The abortion issue isn’t as big of a deal anymore. We brought it back to the states, and that’s where it should be,” Trump said.

In typical Trump fashion, he made sure to let everyone know that, according to him, the enthusiasm is firmly on the Republican side.
