Ahead of their Winter meeting on Saturday, West Virginia Republican Executive Members voted this week to keep the 2026 Primary Election closed to voters who are not registered GOP. Previously, the state committee opened the primaries up to independent or non-affiliated voters. Last year, state executive committee member, and today’s guest, Jim Butler introduced a proposal to close the primary to registered Republican voters only. The proposal passed, but was ammended to not be implemented until after the 2024 Primary. Butler, a Delegate from Mason County, also previews the upcoming 2025 WV Legislative Session which begins Feb. 12th.
